Jasper's mum shares how her son reached an incredible milestone: one full year without seizures. Born four weeks premature after a traumatic delivery, Jasper seemed healthy at birth. His first seizure came at five months old, with episodes becoming more frequent from twelve months.
After extensive hospital stays and medical trials, Jasper was diagnosed with epilepsy and began treatment — “trial and error, combining the right cocktail of medicines to try and control his seizures.”
In March 2020 a severe overnight seizure led to ten days in intensive care at Manchester Children's Hospital and over three weeks in hospital overall, affecting his ability to walk, talk and eat.
Despite this, Jasper has made remarkable progress, reaching his seizure-free milestone on 2nd March 2021. “He's improving all the time, which is very promising,” his mum says — and the family remains grateful for the support of Reuben's Retreat.
